Shared Access, Materials, Assistance, Returned In Time And Networking

A long game deserves a long name. Regardless of tax deductibility, an organization’s tax-exemption status, or donation amounts, we have a
mission to accomplish. Giving should be giving for giving’s sake, not be held up as a way to save a few bucks on bank notes losing value by the hour. And it isn’t a bad idea to make sure your donations go where they will be appreciated most. By allowing us to compensate you for fuel, wear & tear, and your time (each separately and noted) when you give to a volunteer in need at a local non-profit, you can earn discounts at local shops.

People of all backgrounds suffer the most going through unanticipated life circumstances for the first time. More than money, the loss of a support network is devastating. Rather than turning to individuals with unknown history, utilizing support networks through nonprofits and smaller companies is far more feasible where most (if not all) have been background checked or be vouched for by someone already in trusted circles. When an individual in need becomes a volunteer of one participating organization, their service should carry weight with others. This is faster and more beneficial than phone calls, awards, and thank you cards, more accountable than rumor and impressions, and is both more durable and less captive than gift cards or certificates.

What can you do with all the credits you DON’T use? Save them to reward your kids for work done well (at any age). Teach them about work, value, saving, budgeting, or leverage in the process - all without using sensitive banking information, credit card over the internet, or touching terminals in any merchant. No waiting on payments being posted or accounts to clear.

“What if they use the money for ________?” The Torch (and timebank) is an excellent alternative to cash, to alleviate concerns about how the money gets spent. In addition to seeing the merchants where these credits are accepted, you can relax in knowing that whether you spend them on yourself or your friends, or you give them away, you’re keeping those hard-earned dollars spent alongside these credits circulating among truly local small businesses and organizations.

Many people are stuck making a choice between their well-being, their stewardship performance, and helping out those less fortunate than they, or simply being a nice person regardless of the context. It doesn’t need to be a dilemma for anyone, whether they’re a business owner, a worker, a volunteer, or a charity manager.

You can produce good from the:

[Heart] Volunteering & giving |

[Mind] Stewardship & thoughtful spending |

[Soul] Excellence of work & purpose |

[Strength] Savings & Co-operation |

[Love your neighbor as yourself] Family | Friends | Coworkers |

Volunteer | …anyone in need.

SAMARITAN is the good-cause placeholder to help faith-centered and similar goodwill-centered communities to get started. If someone wishes to simply give or provide momentum to “those around them,” they may start their own parallel community, especially if a potential non-profit wants to see how it works first.

This is a cause supported by a corporation. We cannot provide receipts for ourselves, but we can provide immediate credit to donors of all varieties, even those who donate to participating non-profits.

Even if you can’t find the time to donate, once you’re registered, a pickup can be arranged for items you’ve set aside.
